During practice management training, residents will focus on management skills, such as committee participation, developing policies and procedures, formulary management and budget preparation. Also residents can fulfill management requirements by helping establish new elective rotations.
During the year, each rotation incorporates tasks that help residents develop a strong and proficient system for effectively locating and communicating drug information in response to physicians, rotation preceptors and other hospital staff.
We believe in providing our pharmacy residents full support throughout all elements of the residency program. In order to provide guidance during this experience, each resident will choose a residency mentor in addition to an assigned project advisor.
ASHP has established core standards for evaluating a resident’s performance during the PGY2 residency year. Evaluations are completed via Pharm Academic, which is an electronic database incorporating the Residency Learning System (RLS) to ensure ongoing feedback. This process facilitates the development of the residents’ skills throughout the year.
