A graduation ceremony was held at McLeod Regional Medical Center on November 21, marking the 46th graduation ceremony for the McLeod Health School of Medical Laboratory Science. Celebrating their certificates of completion were graduates Kiersten Cain, Emily Sponaugle, and Allison Suber.
Guest speaker for the graduation ceremony was McLeod Orthopedic Surgeon Dr. Rodney Alan. “I have had the opportunity to grow as a physician here at McLeod,” said Dr. Alan. “I hope your experiences will be as rich as mine.”
A Medical Laboratory Scientist plays an important role in the prevention and diagnosis of diseases such as cancer and diabetes. They perform laboratory tests on specimens and in turn these tests assist physicians in verifying the causes of illnesses, aid in making medical decisions and in determining treatment options for their patients.
In existence since 1977, the McLeod School of Medical Laboratory Science has graduated 208 students from the program.
