McLeod Regional Lab Achieves Successful CAP Survey

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 8 DECEMBER 2023

The McLeod Regional Medical Center (MRMC) Laboratory Staff and Physicians recently completed a very successful CAP (College of American Pathologists) Survey.

On November 16, there were 11 Surveyors who conducted the thorough survey. These Lab Professionals from Lexington Medical Center surveyed the McLeod Laboratory on the 3,000 CAP Standards for each of the three Laboratory Areas (McLeod Tower, Emergency Department and Family Medicine). A peer-inspection model was used by the CAP survey team who are uniquely aware of the workflows and challenges of the laboratory.

“The staff in Anatomical Pathology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, Lab Systems, and Lab Administration along with iSTAT and other point of care testing areas did an excellent job in preparing and representing the level of quality, precision results, and safety required to maintain this level of accreditation,” said Judy Bibbo, VP of Patient Services. “Please join me in congratulating our Lab Team for maintaining Excellence for our patients and community. The Lab also wants to thank all the other MRMC departments who supported and assisted them through the survey.”
