McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLeod Health welcomes Joseph W. Dougherty, MD, FACS, and Jeremy McCallum, MD, to the medical staff.

Dr. Dougherty joins Dr. Jessica Adams as part of McLeod General Surgery Dillon. Dr. Dougherty has served on the medical staff and in leadership roles of multiple medical systems across the country in his more than a decade of providing surgical care. Most recent appointments include Androscoggin Valley Hospital, in Berlin, New Hampshire; Calais Regional Hospital, in Calais, Maine where he served as Chief of Staff, General Surgeon, and Interim Medical Director of Outpatient Clinics; and Rideout Medical Center of Marysville, California as Trauma Medical Director and partner with Surgical Affiliates Management Group. A Commander (CDR) with the US Navy Reserve since 2015, he deployed to Iraq as a medical officer and surgeon in 2018, and was part of the USNS Comfort COVID-19 response to New York City in 2020. Dr. Dougherty and his wife, Kate, are parents of four children. They look forward to being closer to family in South Carolina and becoming members of the Dillon community. Dr. McCallum joins Dr. Eric Heimberger, Dr. David Lukowski, Dr. Christopher Walsh and Dr. Peter Lukowski at McLeod Orthopaedics Seacoast. Dr. McCallum comes to McLeod  following the completion of his Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine Fellowship at  Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas in Greenville, South Carolina. Dr. McCallum is highly skilled in sports medicine restorative care and procedures, such as hip preservation, shoulder reconstruction and total joint replacements. He is also trained in arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder, knee and ankle, hip pathology and orthopedic trauma.
