McLeod Health Welcomes These New Physicians

McLeod Health welcomes new physicians Bryan L. Christensen, M.D. and Anne C. Zimmerman, D.O. to the medical staff.

Dr. Christensen joins Physician Assistant John Carpenter at McLeod Orthopaedics Clarendon. Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons.

Dr. Christensen attended Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina, where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and was an ROTC scholar. He received his medical degree from the Uniformed Services University of Health Sciences in Bethesda, Maryland. where he trained at Walter Reed Army Medical Center as well as Bethesda Naval Medical Center. Dr. Christensen completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at a joint program between Texas Tech University and William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. He also trained at the St. Joseph Children’s Hospital in Phoenix, Arizona, and Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois.

Dr. Christensen served as a United States Army Orthopedic Surgeon for 11 years which included deployments to Afghanistan and Kuwait. He also served as the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital in Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. After two years, he transferred to Moncrief Army Community Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina, where he served as Chief of Orthopedic Surgery as well Chief of Surgery for eight years. Dr. Christensen received several Meritorious Service Medals as well as the Army Commendation Medal with three oak leaf clusters during his distinguished military career.

Dr. Zimmerman joins Dr. Clarence Coker, Dr. Lisa Heichberger and Family Nurse Practitioner Susanne Johnson at McLeod Primary Care Clarendon.

Dr. Zimmerman received her medical degree from A.T. Still University in Kirksville, Missouri, in 2005. She completed her residency at Baylor Medical Center, in Garland, Texas, in 2008.

Board Certified in Family Medicine, Dr. Zimmerman brings more than 13 years of experience providing care in community health. She looks forward to serving the needs of families and people of all ages in Clarendon and the surrounding area. Dr. Zimmerman is also fluent in German and Spanish and previously served in the United States Navy.
