McLeod Health welcomes Valery Batimba Bessi, MD, and Simbiat Olayiwola, MD, to the medical staff. These physicians join the Department of Inpatient Medicine at McLeod Regional Medical Center as a Hospitalists.
A native of Cameroon who grew up in Alabama, Dr. Batimba Bessi comes to McLeod following the completion of his Internal Medicine Residency training at the University of Nevada-Reno earlier this year. He received his medical degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee, in 2018. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Batimba Bessi embraces the team approach of hospitalist medicine, and enjoys seeing patients improve from the immediate, onsite care they receive. Dr. Batimba Bessi and Dr. Olayiwola enjoy traveling and look forward to being part of the McLeod family and Florence community.
A native of Nigeria raised in the state of Illinois, Dr. Olayiwola comes to McLeod following the completion of her Internal Medicine Residency training at the University of Texas in Houston. She received her medical degree from Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee, in 2020. Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Dr. Olayiwola enjoys the challenges of medical knowledge, skills, and training required for acutely ill patients in the hospital setting. Dr. Olayiwola and her husband, Dr. Batimba Bessi, are excited to join the McLeod Hospitalists team.
