McLeod Health welcomes Elise Bjerken, DO, and Christa L. Wentt, MD, to the medical staff.
Dr. Berjken joins the McLeod Loris Seacoast Surgery team and sees patients in Little River, Loris and Carolina Forest. Dr. Bjerken is trained in both laparoscopic and robotic surgery. She specializes in a variety of surgical procedures like advanced hernia repair, thyroidectomy, colectomy, and the treatment of other abdominal and intestinal conditions. Dr. Bjerken chose McLeod Health for its patient-centered care and leading-edge robotics program. A native of Myrtle Beach, Dr. Bjerken grew up in a family of physicians. She received her medical degree from Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) Spartanburg, SC, and completed her General Surgery Residency training at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah, GA. When not seeing patients in the clinic or performing surgery in the operating room, Dr. Bjerken enjoys watching college football, hiking, kayaking, cooking, and spending time with her Golden Retriever. Dr. Wentt joins McLeod Orthopaedics Seacoast from the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. She focuses on restorative surgery of the hip, knee, and shoulder. Dr. Wentt is fellowship trained in sports medicine and specializes in complex ligament and cartilage injuries of the knee, patellofemoral instability, hip preservation, and instability and rotator cuff injuries of the shoulder. Dr. Wentt received her medical degree from Case Western Reserve University – School of Medicine of Cleveland, Ohio. She completed her Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at Howard University Hospital, Washington, DC, and Fellowship in Orthopaedic Sports Medicine at Cleveland Clinic. A native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Dr. Wentt enjoys Taekwondo, Egyptology, English Regency Literature, and is a classically trained singer. For more information, call 843-390-0100.
