McLeod Health Releases Annual Cancer Report

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL 17 JANUARY 2020

Annually, McLeod produces a Cancer Report to share its outcomes with the community. This year’s report features an overview on breast cancer cases diagnosed and treated at McLeod by Dr. Ravneet Bajwa and physician articles on the benefits of microsurgical breast reduction, advancements in improving cancer care, and immunotherapy. In addition to patient testimonials on lung cancer, brain cancer and colon cancer, the report also includes recognition of McLeod Radiation Oncology for achieving international radiosurgery certification.

The 2019 Cancer Report also contains up-to-date statistics of various cancers diagnosed at McLeod Regional Medical Center during the previous year. This data provides the Cancer Center with invaluable information to track and trend outcomes for patients and the public.

In 2018, 1,465 new cancer cases were diagnosed at McLeod. Cancers of the breast, lung, colorectal areas, prostate and urinary system accounted for 70 percent of all cancer cases diagnosed in 2014.

The Cancer Report also provides a statistical analysis of the types of cancer cases diagnosed at McLeod by site, sex and stage as well as a comparison of the ten most prevalent cancer sites diagnosed at McLeod, in South Carolina and in the United States based on the American Cancer Society’s Cancer Facts and Figures 2018.
