Thanks to the support and generosity of our local community, the McLeod Health Foundation, supporting McLeod Loris Seacoast, has granted $85,000 to various departments during their fall grant cycle. Examples of the grants include a Lucas 3 Chest Compression System, Theratouch stimulation machine for rehabilitation services, and Cardiac Ultrasound Probe for ICU (Intensive Care Unit) patients.
“The McLeod Health Foundation is only able to give back to our hospital because of the generous support of our donors. Our community partners and our employees are the driving force behind these gifts. This year alone, our employees donated over $1.5 million dollars to support the Foundation,” said Christina Jackson, Director of the McLeod Health Foundation at McLeod Loris Seacoast.
The Lucas 3 Chest Compression System is designed to help improve outcomes of sudden cardiac arrest patients. The device performs 102 chest compressions per minute, providing safe, high-quality CPR for the patient.
“Since the beginning of COVID-19, the ICU has seen multiple patients who required CPR and tested positive for Coronavirus,” said Carole Bailey, Director of ICU at McLeod Health Seacoast. “When a patient is in isolation, it is very important to keep our patients and staff safe. The Lucas 3 Chest Compression System will allow our team to provide consistent, quality chest compressions during resuscitation attempts while creating life-sustaining perfusion of the brain and heart.”
The Foundation raises money each year from individuals and corporate donors and by hosting various events and sales. The mission of the Foundation is to generate philanthropic and community support to perpetuate medical excellence at McLeod Health.
