McLeod Advanced Endoscopy Team Celebrates 100th TIF Procedure

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 9 JULY 2024

The Advanced Endoscopy and Digestive Health Team at McLeod Regional Medical Center recently celebrated having performed 100 Trans-oral Incisionless Fundoplication or TIF procedures for patients suffering from acid reflux. McLeod Advanced Endoscopists Dr. Amaninder Dhaliwal (pictured with MRMC Endoscopy team) and Dr. Davinderbir Pannu offer this procedure for treatment of patients with gastroesophageal reflux (GERD) for whom medication or diet therapy has not provided relief.

The TIF is a method of reinforcing the gastroesophageal valve mechanism with a minimally invasive endoscopic procedure. Patients who receive the TIF often experience shorter treatment time, less pain and faster recovery than with typical surgical procedures for GERD and hernia. More than half the U.S. population suffers from GERD. Although the TIF procedure is not appropriate for all patients, it is an extraordinary option for many who suffer from acid reflux.
