Collins & Almers Architecture: Designing a Lasting Relationship with McLeod Health

Professional Service and Personal Family Care Benefits the Region

Scott Collins and Kevin Almers are architects and lifelong Florentines. So, for their firm, Collins & Almers Architecture, McLeod has always been a part of their lives as their “hometown hospital.”

“I first began serving McLeod in 1985, when then President Bruce Barragan hired me to update the hospital’s interior signage,” Scott reflects. “Little did I know at the time, I was drawing up a blueprint for a 40-year association with McLeod.”

This long-term bond holds a deeply personal significance for the Collins and Almers families. In addition to the professional relationship, McLeod has also provided compassionate care to their families at critical times.

“McLeod has provided care to all our firm’s families over the years,” Kevin remarks. “When we were facing frightening times due to health issues, McLeod was there for us.”

This mutual trust and appreciation has guided the firm’s generous involvement with the McLeod Health Foundation. For 15 years, Collins & Almers has supported a variety of McLeod Foundation campaigns from An Evening of Hope Cancer Benefit and the Chef & Child Dinner and Auction to A Night in the Round and the McLeod Children’s Hospital Golf Classic.

“We appreciate the easy process of working with the McLeod Foundation staff to direct our sponsorship to the areas our team is most passionate about,” Kevin explains.

While philanthropy has become a major facet of the firm’s relationship with McLeod, Collins & Almers continues to serve the “hometown hospital” with its architectural expertise.

“Probably our most satisfying and personally meaningful McLeod project was designing the Children’s Hospital’s Playroom,” Scott shares. “The large shade tree and other fun features connected us with our inner child and produced a space pediatric patients can enjoy during challenging times.”

Everyone at Collins & Almers hopes to help McLeod continue growing and expanding its services so patients have access to the finest facilities and equipment.

“Working with McLeod has been an honor and a pleasure,” Scott says. “We plan to continue this relationship for many years, and we look forward to seeing McLeod fulfill its mission of healthcare excellence.”
