The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at McLeod Regional Medical Center recently opened a second dedicated Electrophysiology Laboratory for Electrophysiology (EP) studies and procedures.

The new EP system at McLeod is a truly integrated solution for enhanced patient care. It provides capabilities to record the study and capture 3D images of the heart and includes the latest navigation system of the heart. This state-of-the-art EP system is also designed to a new standard of care, safety and efficiency for the McLeod EP Lab staff and patients offering the lowest possible radiation dose and excellent image quality.

A type of heart catheterization, an electrophysiology study is conducted to examine the heart’s electrical system and detect irregularities in a patient’s heart rhythm. These procedures are performed by McLeod Electrophysiologists Dr. Prabal Guha and Dr. Rajesh Malik, who specialize in evaluating the abnormalities of the heart’s rhythm.

Dr. Guha and Dr. Malik annually perform nearly 1,300 electrophysiology procedures at McLeod.
