As a partner in nursing education for the region, McLeod Health has made a $75,000 gift to Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) to support its nursing and health sciences program. HGTC offers an Associate in Applied Science in Nursing (ADN) degree and a Practical Nursing (PN) diploma for students, which is a valuable recruitment resource for McLeod Health.

“We are thankful for our ongoing partnership with HGTC,” said Monica Vehige, CEO of McLeod Health Seacoast. “McLeod Health can count on HGTC to prepare our clinical staff to care for our patients from nursing to technologists in the Surgical Services department, Radiology department, and Laboratory. HGTC’s commitment and role in workforce development across our region is impressive.”

The HGTC Nursing and Health Sciences Institute has set ambitious yet achievable goals. These include developing a world-class, integrated simulation learning environment, expanding nursing enrollment to 600 students by 2030, providing exceptional clinical rotation and internship opportunities, and consistently attracting top-tier healthcare faculty to HGTC.
