The PGY2 residency program focuses on developing and refining critical care and emergency medicine pharmacy skills and knowledge. This second year builds upon the knowledge developed during the resident’s general PGY1 year. Once completed, the PGY2 resident will be eligible for board certification and considered competent to work as a critical care or emergency medicine clinical pharmacist.
More than one-third of the pharmacists employed have completed postgraduate residency training. Use of a decentralized pharmacy model facilitates close collaboration with physicians and other health care professionals, emphasizing the concept of pharmaceutical care.
