Graduation Held for Inaugural Class of McLeod Health Nurse Residents

McLEOD REGIONAL MEDICAL CENTER 2 FEBRUARY 2024

A celebration and graduation was held on January 31 for the inaugural McLeod Health Nurse Residency Program. Thirty-four Nurse Residents representing McLeod Regional Medical Center and McLeod Health Clarendon were recognized for their achievements.

The Nurse Residency Program (NRP) assists the New Graduate Nurse transition into a professional nurse role via workshop-style learning seminars and clinical experiences. The NRP uses a guided development curriculum to transform the New Graduate Nurse to a competent, confident, professional nurse. The general definition of a New Graduate Nurse is a nurse with one year or less of experience as a Registered Nurse. The NRP consists of six, monthly seminars and an evidence-based project. Each Nurse Resident is assigned to a cohort, led by a facilitator who guides discussions and seminars and serves as a mentor.
