The McLeod Health Nursing Academy is an opportunity for high school students interested in a nursing career to participate in an educational career developmental program.
Held in Florence and Horry Counties, the Nursing Academy provides clinical education, career skills, educational plans, scholarship information, and industry recognized credentials to help the students determine if nursing is the career they want to pursue. Each student participates in daily classroom instruction followed by clinical observations.
The second two-week session began on July 18 at McLeod Health Seacoast. This is the first year the Nursing Academy has been held in Horry County. Students participating in the program are from Pawley’s Island, Myrtle Beach, Carolina Forest, North Myrtle Beach, Conway, Green Sea and Loris.
