Connecting Through Technology

Your loved one is in excellent hands! Our staff members are devoted to providing safe, high quality, compassionate care. Our compassion and concern for the well-being of our patients extends to you, the family member and friend.

You are considered a key part of a patient’s journey to healing. We understand that you cannot always be here with your loved one, and encourage family members and friends to use alternative communication methods as available and appropriate such as:

  • Phone Call (either personal cell or patient room)
  • Texting, Email, or other electronic methods
  • Video Chatting (FaceTime, Duo, or Skype)
  • Family Connect Visits: Virtual visitation experiences that are coordinated by a team who are trained to help patients, visitors and loved ones stay connected by using smart devices. This team also assists with device charger needs and can help with smart device issues the patient or family are experiencing.

If you need assistance connecting to your patient’s room, requesting a Family Connect Visit, or have smart device and charge needs, McLeod Switchboard is here to help you and is available 24/7.

Patient Personal Belongings

We care about you and want your stay at McLeod Health to be exceptional. We also care about your personal belongings and know they are important to you. When possible, please leave all valuables at home or send them home with a family member. If you are unable to send valuables home or if you have brought any of the following items, please let your nurse know so our security team can safely store them in the hospital safe: credit cards, money, jewelry, electronics or other valuable items. If you have dentures, glasses, or hearing aids please place them in a protective case when not in use. Although McLeod Health does not accept responsibility for patient belongings, we do our best to inform patients of the importance of bringing only necessities with you.
