McLeod serves as a regional resource for transport and treatment of a wide spectrum of life-threatening illnesses and injuries. The chances of survival increase dramatically, the sooner treatment is begun by trained medical professionals.
Thanks to the McLeod Critical Care Transport Team: McLeod Air Reach, Heart Reach and Child Reach, who provide rapid access to the tertiary care facilities of McLeod Regional Medical Center when seconds matter the most. Whatever the critical care needs are, and whether patients reach us by ambulance or air transport, they are within minutes of the services and support that ensure the continuum of care needed.
HeartReach – our mobile Critical Care Unit – travels with state of the art cardiac equipment, including cardiac monitors, defibrillators, pacemakers, a ventilator, high-tech IV pumps, blood pressure equipment and an electrocardiogram (EKG). While en route to the medical facility, the unit remains in contact with physicians. The technology and personnel in HeartReach provides care equivalent to care received in a Medical Center Intensive Care Unit.
